I am, however, talking about the physical type of labor involved in remodeling one’s home. My wife Dori and I started remodeling our 125 year old (plus) home back in 1995 when we realized our 900 square foot version would not comfortably accommodate our growing family. After searching for something larger yet still affordable, we decided to expand what we already had. With a generous gift from our parents we began. We wound up with approximately 3800 square feet, of which 1040 has remained unfinished until now. My Dad and I have done the majority of the work with prep help from a number of friends.

This past week, my brother-in-law, Jerry pulled up the back fence, re-graded the back yard then formed and poured an 18 by 24 foot slab for the huge shed Dori is buying me for my birthday. I am including two albums below for your viewing pleasure: one is mainly the attic project and the other is the back yard project:
