The Life and Times of Eugene Boyle aka a EUGEBOY @ Large!

… a euge pictoral adventure:
The Life and Times of Eugene Boyle

As I grow older I notice that many of the thoughts that created a feeling of pride in me have either soured or lost their value. As a young man I was proud of my lustrous black hair with auburn highlights that could organize with a cool flip of my head. That glorious mane has been replaced with a large expanse of multihued bare skin sprinkled with patches of surprisingly quick growing stubble. The six pack that I sported used to create a sense of pride, especially since it was mostly maintained by alcoholic beverages, dancing and partying till the wee hours and huge amounts of hastily consumed comfort food. That six pack has been replaced by a keg which requires bigger and

bigger belts in order to keep it contained within the waist band of my pants. From a material standpoint, I used to collect things (my kids think I belong on a reality TV show like ‘Hoarders’) and now I look at my ‘collection’ of stuff and think, “…I wish we had more tornados in Idaho…”

The point is, very few things or people mean much to me anymore. Nearly everything I have given any value to has proved to be fleeting or completely valueless. The exception thus far has been my family – going up the tree (family), down from my branch, or out on any of the limbs; my family is somehow the last standing bastion of pride that I still hold dear.

My hope is that will never change but there is that possibility, I suppose. I could develop Alzheimer’s or just fall over dead and then, that too, will probably come to be a value that ends with my conscious awareness ending…

Until then, however, I love my family and they are very important and valuable to me.

2010 1022 Baby Sitting Kove and Rayce

Our second oldest married kids, Gary and Lauren, were wanting a much-needed night out and asked if we would take baby sitting duty. I guess I shouldn’t label it ‘duty’ since it is probably one of Dori’s favorite things to do – especially when we do it together. I always enjoy Kove’s company – he is funny, loving and extremely entertaining in the things he says and the things he wants me to pay attention

to. Kove is also extremely bright, so it is natural to spontaneously create word games or to move back and forth instantly from make-believe to real-time. He is developing a sense of humor similar to his dad’s – so nonsense questions and replies are delivered with mostly deadpan expressions (which rarely fails to crack me up). For the very first time we also had Rayce all to ourselves. He’s only a few weeks old so it is wonderful to look at him and wonder what type of personality he will develop.
